Each Gloridon tribe is an autonomous society. Occasionally, neighboring tribes will make alliances for the benefit of trade and mututal protection.

Many hundreds of years ago, the barbarian hold on Southern Houress was broken by more modern advancing armies. Most integrated into the newer societies, while others retreated to what is now Gorth and the Barbarian Kingdom.

 

Small bands of barbarains retreated into the Gloridon Desert, where they established new tribes. Over the centuries, the tribes have sustained themselves in the harsh desert environment by sheer determination, loose alliances, and occasional trade with the outside world.

 

Religion

 

The tribes and the gods they worship are a representation of both their ancient roots and the more modern beliefs absorbed into their society from the peoples who came down from the north centuries ago.

 

Topographical Points of Interest

 

loridon Desert

 

This vast sun baked wasteland is a treacherous place to live for any creature, even those adapted to such an environment. As with any desert wasteland, food and water are at a premium, and are often used by humanoids living there as currency to purchase what they need.

 

Turin Hills

 

These rocky hills provide some protection ogainst the harsh elements of the desert, which is why some tribes live here.

 

Hollen Downs

 

These hills, which butt against the eastern slope of the Rockroost Mountains, is a place of protection from the harshness of the Gloridon Desert. Many creatures take refuge here, including at least one tribe.

 

Rocroost Mountains

 

The Rocroosts run from the eastern edge of Regdon and into Criksrad, separating the two contries from the Gloridon Desert. As per the name, the spires are well populated with the legendary Rocs. There are also many dwarves, orcs, goblins, kobolds, and other creatures here.

 

Vulture Peak

 

A towering active volcano, Vulture Peak can be seen for miles. Many creatures can be found in and around this formidable mountain, including some tribes. It is rumored that a powerful wizard makes his home here, where he plots and plans for his next grab at power.

Located at the extreme northern border of the Gloridon Desert, Chor is a free desert city that deals in trade primarily with the Kingdom of the East from the Hestrillite Empire and occasionally Garland.

Although they recognize many gods in the heavens, this tribe only has temples dedicated to three gods.

 

 

Wizard Presence

 

The Yellow Order is a small council of three wizards that provide wisdom to the tribe and oversee all things arcane.

 

Council of the Clans

 

There are 5 clans in Chor: Ani, Cathress, Gol Koten, Kaivenn, and Uthpena. The ruling class is the Ani. A representative of each clan sits on the board to debate laws, policies, and other matters related to the city of Chor.

 

Slave Trade

 

Active slave trading within the city walls is forbidden, for the clans over the years have tried to focus on more legitimate trade. Still, they will allow slavers to bring their slaves into the or through the city as a matter of courtesy.

Auslam

Located at the northwestern top of the Turis Hills. The city is made primarily of tents and adobe buildings. In the center of the city is a large walled keep known as Bendurah. This is where Ixnir and his clan (El Bozh) reside.

 

There are five clans that make up the Auslam Council. They are: Dakkanon, El Bozh, Ghamotet, Lessari, and Qelduva.

 

Religion

 

Although they recognize many gods in the heavens, this tribe only has temples dedicated to three gods.

 

 

Wizard Presence

 

Each of the five clans has a wizard. The wizard of the ruling clan (El Bozh) is looked to as their leader in all arcane matters.

 

Trade Council

 

Representatives of each clan sit at this council and discuss all things concerning trade in products, services, and slaves. They are very powerful and have a great say in matters of the tribe.

 

Slave Trade

 

The trafficking of slaves among the tribes in the Gloridon

Desert tribes is prolific. They deal with slave traffickers in both The Kingdom of the East in the empire and in Brighkly.

 

Criminal Presence

 

There are few individuals who break the law, for the punishments are quite severe, up to and including death.

Ruby Eyes of Salranda

 

In the Turis hills is a statue that was carved from the very rock itself over eight centuries ago. The statue is of a tall, proud bearded man named Salranda Kinle. He founded Auslam many years ago be uniting warring clans in the area and made the people there feared and respected in the Gloridon Desert and beyond.

 

The eyes of the 20' tall statue are rubies of the purest cut. They look to the east toward the rising sun. They cannot be removed, and anyone who tries disappears instantly to parts unknown. The clans of Auslam regularly pay homage to the statue.

A single wizard, endorsed by the ruling clan (Taomur), is the authority on all things arcane here.

 

High Council

 

Representatives of each clan sit at this council and discuss all things concerning all matters in the city, including laws and trade. Their word is law.

Tears of Harulia

 

Near the top of a sacred hill rests a shrine to a great warrior named Harulia who died saving many lives centuries ago. The shrine is a small tower of elegantly decorated red stone. Within is a single small pool of crystal clear water from a spring deep underground. People come here at the spring and autumn equinox to pay homage to the famous fighter.

Located in the northwestern portion of Vulture Peak, city of Hachream is nestled at the northern base of Vulture Peak, where they utilize much of the volcanic tunnels for shelter.

Wizard Presence

 

The Sha'ir (wizard) Naovallis is recognized as the leader of all things arcane within Hachream. He resides in a tower build high in the side of the mountainous Vulture peak and is consulted regularly by Ental and other clan leaders.

 

Serpent Circle

 

This is a council of the four clans that rule within Hachream: Aabassa, Eir'Qana (ruling family), Hafere, and Yofarii. They meet in Castle Kal Katree to discuss matters relating to the tribe and keeping Hachream prosperous.

 

Slave Trade

 

Slave trade is lucrative within Hachream. The taders within the city do business with neighboring tribes and the lords of brighkly and those from the Kingdom of the East to the north in the Hestrillite Empire.

 

Criminal Presence

 

Organized crime is non-existent within Hachream. There are scattered independent thieves working the street.

Located at the southern tip of Vulture Peak, this community of sheiks and traders numbers over 1,200. Tothesi is a place of great trade among the various Gloridon tribes, as well as outsiders from the west, particularly Havalla and Rorus.

 

In the Tothesi society, there is a great emphasis on bartering, since coin iis not always in ready supply. Slavery is strictly forbidden by the Tothesi, as it is with all tribes of the desert. Women are considered secondary to men, who often maintain several wives as a sign of power and virility.

 

With resources in the desert at a premium, theft is punishable by death.

 

Camel Races

 

Although camel races are an important part of desert tribal life in Gloridon, none are as grand as those held each solstice by the Tothesi. Jockeys from near and far come to participate in a contest known for its spectacular brutality. The prize: a small silver flask of rare spice called Anaux that can fetch as much as 10,000 gold due to its ability to increase a man's sexual robustness by as much as three times.

Vidbor is a city of thieves and mercenaries, as they have been for centuries since they were deemed outcast by the other tribes of the Gloridon Desert. They deal heavily in the slave trade and also engage in raids along the Regdonian border.

Wizard Presence

 

There is no formal organization of wizards here. Each clan has their own, while freelancers live within Vidbor.

 

Ramaku

 

A council of the four tribes that exist in Vidbor. Ruled with an iron fist by Most High Bors Karun, the council considers matters such as law, trade and other profitable ventures for the city.

 

Slave Trade

 

The slave trade here is lucrative, with most of the business for the Vidbos sheikhs comes from Regdon.
