Forestal isn't a country so much as a territory made up of independent cities that trade with one another and observe loose pacts revolving around peace and mutual defense. The lands are old and populated with a diversity of different races, humanoids, and creatures.

 

Fae Surges

 

What makes Forestal unique is that the barrier between the territory and the Fae Realm is weaker than that of anywhere else on Irith. Because of this, strange, unpredictable, and often times unexplainable anomalies can happen anywhere at any time. These phenomenon are called Fae Surges. Most instances are harmless, such as changing a patch of vegetation a different color for a short time, or causing a brief shower from a multi-colored cloud, etc. Rarely, more powerful surges happen, when can expel fae creatures, cause more powerful storms, or distort gravity among other things. In some cases, damaging energy can be expelled or indigenous creatures sucked into the Fae Realm, but these are extremely rare. Still, those living in Forestal are keenly aware of the dangers. City walls are usually enchanted with strong magic that strengthens the barrier, making it nearly impossible for surges to occur there.

Aorg Channel

 

A wide channel that separates a large island off the eastern coast of Forestal.

 

Frost Blade Peaks

 

Running east to west along the northeast edge of Forestal, these rugged mountains are home to many types of giants.

 

Gizick River

 

A long river that flows out of the Rjorl Mountains northeast to the coast.

 

Goblin Reaches

 

A dark mountain range located near the southern border. Home to a large goblin population as well as many other unsavory creatures.

 

Goldweek Prairie

 

A vast grassy plain that takes up nearly half of Forestal.
